The Ranakpur Jain Temple, built in the 15th century, is considered one of the most spectacular pieces of architecture in the world. Located just 90 kilometers from Jawai, it makes the perfect day-trip addition to your safari experience.
About the Temple
Dedicated to Adinatha, the first Jain Tirthankara, the temple complex covers 48,000 square feet and features 1,444 intricately carved marble pillars — no two are identical. The craftsmanship took over 50 years to complete.
Best Time to Visit
Arrive early morning (8:00 AM–10:00 AM) to avoid crowds and enjoy the interplay of light through the carved windows. The temple is open to non-Jains from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
What to Wear
Conservative clothing covering shoulders and legs is required. Leather items (belts, bags) must be left at the entrance. Cloth coverings are provided if needed.
Photography
Photography is permitted but video cameras require a permit. Avoid photographing devotees at prayer.
